Senior Director and Head of Biology

Groundbreaking opportunity to discover and develop ventilator control medicines

Galleon Pharmaceuticals, located in suburban Philadelphia, is building a world-class team of scientists focused on building a portfolio of novel medicines for use in patients with diseases that have an abnormal ventilatory control component. Our products will have potential applications in sleep medicine, pulmonary, neurological and cardiovascular diseases, anesthesiology and pediatrics conditions.

We are seeking an experienced Ph.D.-level scientist (pharmacologist, neurophysiolost, biochemist or cell biologist) with extensive pharmaceutical industry experience (>5 years) to build a high-quality biology team focused on the discovery and progression of potential therapeutics for ventilatory control dysfunction. Expertise and experience in the respiratory or neuroscience therapeutic area is much preferred. A track-record of innovation, risk-taking and effectively managing, motivating and developing a scientific group is essential. The individual and their team will develop new in vitro and in vivo systems - as well as employ currently available ones - to assess the impact of compounds on ventilatory control, and to help build the overall drug discovery strategy to identify clinical candidates. This position requires high levels of scientific curiosity, a drive and passion to create novel medicines, and an entrepreneurial mind set. This individual will be expected to contribute significantly to the development and implementation of the Galleon’s short-term and longer-term vision and strategy.

Other requirements:

  • Expertise in the design and interpretation of impactful experimental studies essential
  • A track-record of direct management of drug discovery programs and of progressing compounds to the development stage
  • Strong verbal and written communication acumen and inter-personal skills to effectively engage with the world’s top scientific experts in this research area, and to work across the matrix within the company.

Research Scientist, Respiratory or Neuroscience Biology

Galleon Pharmaceuticals, located in suburban Philadelphia in Horsham, is building a top-quality team of scientists focused on building a portfolio of novel medicines for use in patients with diseases that have an abnormal ventilatory control component. Our products will have potential applications in sleep medicine, pulmonary, neurological and cardiovascular diseases, anesthesiology and pediatrics conditions.

We are seeking a biological scientist (B.S. or M.S. in physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry or related discipline), preferably with pharmaceutical industry experience (>2 years), to be a key component of a high-quality biology team. Expertise and experience in the respiratory or CNS disease models is preferred. A track-record of a consistently high-level of performance is essential. The individual will utilize current and new in vitro and in vivo systems to assess the impact of novel compounds on ventilatory control. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the refinement and development of new in vitro and/or in vivo assays.

Other requirements:

  • This position requires an individual with scientific curiosity, self-drive and a passion to create novel medicines
  • Experience with different laboratory techniques, - in vivo experience, including the use of different laboratory species and animal models is preferred
  • Adherence to GLP procedures and regulations for in vivo animal research
  • Ability to accurately record, analyze and communicate experimental data, in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across the matrix within the company
  • Strong computer skills, including use of appropriate statistical analysis
  • Flexibility, and desire and ability to cross-train: learning and utilizing multiple in vitro and in vivo techniques as required to meet business goals

Research Scientist, DMPK (Analytical) 

Groundbreaking opportunity to discover and develop ventilatory control medicines

Galleon Pharmaceuticals, located in suburban Philadelphia in Horsham, is building a top-quality team of scientists focused on delivering a portfolio of novel medicines for use in patients with diseases that have an abnormal ventilatory control component. Our products will have potential applications in sleep medicine, pulmonary, neurological and cardiovascular diseases, anesthesiology and pediatrics conditions.

We are seeking a DMPK Analytical scientist (B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry or related discipline), preferably with pharmaceutical industry experience (>2 years), to be a key component of a high-quality analytical group, encompassing chemistry and DMPK activities. Expertise in establishing and conducting DMPK assays, involving analytical HPLC and LC-MS/MS instrumentation is essential. Experience in running in vitro ADME assays (e.g., P450, permeability) or in assessing the physicochemical properties of compounds is preferred. A track-record of a consistently high-level of performance is essential.

The individual will be responsible primarily for the analysis of samples (biofluids and tissues) from various in vivo models, working in an integrated manner with the biology group. In addition, assistance with the profiling of parent compounds and metabolites in the appropriate in vitro ADME and physiochemical systems may be required.

Other requirements:

  • This position requires an individual with scientific curiosity, independence, self-drive and a passion to create novel medicines
  • Broad hands-on experience in utilizing diverse analytical techniques, including HPLC and LC-MS/MS, and in technical and scientific trouble-shooting
  • Ability to produce, accurately record, analyze, interpret and communicate experimental data, in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across the matrix within the company
  • Strong computer skills, including use of appropriate statistical analysis
  • Flexibility, and desire and ability to cross-train: learning and utilizing multiple techniques as required to meet business goals
  • Experience with assisting with the daily duties involved in running a research laboratory
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities based upon business needs as determined by the individual's supervisor
