About Galleon Pharmaceuticals

Galleon Pharmaceuticals is a discovery-stage company that is focused on building a portfolio of novel medicines for prevalent breathing-control conditions that include: sleep apnea, ventilator weaning, anesthetic/analgesic-induced respiratory depression, COPD, obesity-hypoventilation syndrome and several other less common diseases.

The initial underlying technology was licensed from a major university and is underpinned by recent advances in the understanding of the biochemical and physiological basis by which the body regulates breathing. The therapeutic concept for one of the approaches is supported by a small clinical proof-of-concept trial.

In January 2007 the Company was funded by a syndicate of top-tier life science venture capital investors. Galleon is located in Horsham, Pennsylvania (20 miles north of Philadelphia).
